Scotlandville High Class of 1979 Turns a Weekend Get-Together Into a Celebration of Friendship and Faith
The Class of 1979 spent the weekend reconnecting, sharing memories and celebrating faith.
Nearly 47 years after graduating from Scotlandville Senior High School, members of the Class of 1979 came together for a weekend that was less about looking back and more about enjoying the people who shared an important chapter of their lives.
The two-day gathering brought classmates together for food, laughter, conversation, and fellowship. It was an opportunity to catch up with longtime friends, share memories and appreciate the relationships that have continued long after high school.
There was no need for a formal reunion agenda to make the weekend meaningful. The heart of the gathering was simple: classmates wanted to spend time with one another.
The weekend also carried a strong spiritual message.
The Class of 1979 attended worship services at Greater King David Baptist Church, where Pastor John E. Montgomery II delivered a message titled “Hold On to Your Faith.” Montgomery has served as pastor of Greater King David since 1988.
His message provided a fitting conclusion to a weekend centered on relationships, life experiences and the passage of time. He encouraged the class to remain steadfast in faith and continue trusting God through every season of life.
For classmates who have experienced nearly five decades of changes, accomplishments, challenges and milestones since leaving Scotlandville, the message carried a natural resonance.
The weekend was ultimately a celebration of connection.
From conversations over a meal to laughter among old friends and worship together on Sunday, the Class of 1979 demonstrated that some relationships do not fade with time. They simply find new reasons to come together.
And for this group of Scotlandville graduates, the reason was clear: food, fun, fellowship, friendship and faith.
