Marcelle Campaign Announces Broad Endorsements in East Baton Rouge Justice of the Peace Race
A growing coalition of community voices is lining up behind Marcelle as voters prepare to choose District 4’s next Justice of the Peace.
BATON ROUGE, La. — C. Denise Marcelle’s campaign for East Baton Rouge Parish Justice of the Peace, District 4, is touting a growing list of endorsements from elected officials, faith leaders, public servants and community advocates as the race moves toward the Nov. 3 election.
The endorsements reflect confidence in Marcelle’s record of public service and her commitment to making the Justice of the Peace office accessible, fair and accountable.
Among those identified by the campaign as endorsers are Sen. Regina Ashford Barrow; Reps. Barbara Carpenter and Terry Landry; Chief Carl Dunn; Councilman Darryl Hurst; Councilman Anthony Kenny; Mayor Darnell Waites; Dr. Charles Vincent; Bishop Raymond Johnson; Bishop Conway Knighten; Bishop Thelma Pearl; Bishop Michael Pearl; Pastor Lloyd Benson II; Pastor Dr. John E. Montgomery II; Pastor Clee E. Lowe; Apostle Antoine George; Daniel Banguel; Ulysses “Bones” Addison; Vereta Lee; Cherie McCastle; Thelma Brown; Admon McCastle; Minister Tremaine Sterling; and Camilla Spillers.
Marcelle said the support represents confidence in her experience and commitment to residents.
“I am deeply honored by the confidence these leaders and citizens have placed in me,” Marcelle said. “I have spent my career serving people, listening to their concerns and working to make a difference.”
Marcelle is a former Louisiana state representative and former East Baton Rouge Metro Councilwoman. Her professional background also includes community outreach, work with the Baton Rouge City Constable’s Office and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, as well as more than 30 years of experience as a paralegal. She is also a licensed notary public.
Her campaign is centered on three themes: visible and accessible leadership, open and fair justice, and integrity.
“I intend to bring experience, integrity and accountability to the office and make sure the people of District 4 know that their Justice of the Peace works for them,” Marcelle said.
Marcelle’s campaign said the Justice of the Peace position requires an understanding of the legal and administrative systems residents encounter, as well as a commitment to treating people fairly and with dignity.
The campaign is encouraging District 4 voters to participate in the Nov. 3 election. The campaign lists early voting as Oct. 5-27.
Marcelle’s campaign slogan is “Experience. Integrity. Justice for All.”
