Southeastern Louisiana Technical College Opens New Kentwood Campus to Expand Workforce Training Opportunities

KENTWOOD, La. — Southeastern Louisiana Technical College marked its grand opening in Kentwood this week, introducing a new vocational training option focused on preparing students for careers in the construction industry.
The campus, described by organizers as a workforce-focused training center, will offer tailored programs designed to align with industry demands, with an emphasis on job readiness upon completion. Enrollment is open to all students.

A central figure in the development of the Kentwood location is Director Tamika Dickerson Mustafa, a Kentwood High School graduate, who was recognized by community members for her leadership in bringing the campus to fruition.
During the grand opening, Kentwood Mayor Irma T. Gordon and representatives from the Town of Kentwood expressed appreciation for the new institution and its expected impact on local education and economic development.
Community members attended the event in support of the opening, with officials also acknowledging those unable to attend but who have supported the initiative.
