Marcelle Urges Community Support for Council on Aging Millage Renewal Ahead of June 27 Vote
State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle is urging support for the June 27 Council on Aging millage renewal, saying it continues vital services for seniors. “This renewal ensures our seniors are not left behind,” Marcelle said.
BATON ROUGE, La. — State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle of District 61 is urging voters to approve the Council on Aging millage renewal on June 27, saying the measure will preserve vital services for area seniors without creating a new tax.
June 27: Vote YES to renew the Council on Aging millage and continue vital services for our seniors—supporting meals, housing, and programs that keep our elders connected and thriving in the community.
“This renewal ensures our seniors are not left behind,” Marcelle said. “It protects essential services like meals, housing support, and programs that keep our elders connected, active, and valued in our community.”
Marcelle, a former board chair of the Council on Aging, pointed to the organization’s ongoing work providing nutritious meals, safe housing assistance, and opportunities for seniors to remain socially engaged and supported.
She also highlighted the Intergenerational Center initiative, which brings seniors and youth together for shared learning and community connection.
Officials stress the proposal is a renewal of an existing millage that continues current services already relied upon by residents.
Voters will decide the measure on June 27.
