BAKER, La. — Residents across the Baton Rouge region are invited to a community town hall meeting focused on the impact of recent redistricting changes, voter registration, upcoming elections, and broader civic engagement efforts aimed at strengthening public participation in the democratic process.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Rose Hill Church, 3213 Groom Road in Baker. The event begins at 5:45 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Louisiana State Representative C. Denise Marcelle said the town hall is designed to help residents understand how redistricting may affect their voting districts, how to register or update voter information, and what to expect in upcoming local and statewide elections. The forum will also provide resources for civic education, voter access, and community advocacy.

The program will bring together elected officials, civic leaders, and community advocates for a public discussion on representation, accountability, and access to the electoral process.

Featured speakers and participants include:

  • Louisiana State Senator Regina Barrow, President Pro Tempore of the Louisiana Senate
  • Louisiana State Representative C. Denise Marcelle, District 61
  • Louisiana State Representative Terry Landry Jr., District 67
  • Davante Lewis, Public Service Commissioner, Louisiana Public Service Commission
  • Bruce Reilly, Deputy Director, Vote
  • Ashley K. Shelton, Chief Executive Officer, Power Coalition for Equity and Justice
  • Tasha Clark-Amar, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director (organization not specified)
  • A special video message from U.S. Congressman Troy A. Carter Sr.

In addition, Jackie Germany of the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice will provide voter registration assistance and information on election resources, including how residents can confirm their voting status and participate in upcoming elections.

Organizers emphasized that the town hall comes at a critical time as communities adjust to new district maps and continue raising concerns about fair representation and equitable access to the political process.

“This is about ensuring that residents understand what has changed, what it means for their vote, and how to stay fully engaged in shaping their communities,” organizers said.

Light refreshments will be served. Residents from Baker, Baton Rouge, and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend.
