New Drew McInnis EMS Station Opens, Bringing Faster Emergency Response to East Baton Rouge Parish
East Baton Rouge Parish opened the new Drew McInnis EMS Station, a modern hub honoring McInnis’s legacy and boosting emergency response across the parish.

BATON ROUGE, La. — East Baton Rouge Parish is raising the bar for emergency response with the grand opening of the brand-new Drew McInnis EMS Station — a modern, centrally located hub designed to cut response times and strengthen disaster readiness across the parish.
Located off Airline Highway near Baton Rouge Police Headquarters, the station was unveiled this week with parish leaders, EMS crews, and community members on hand to celebrate. The state-of-the-art facility officially goes into full operation next Monday.
“This is a game changer,” said EMS spokesperson Brad Harris. “We’ve strategically positioned this station in the heart of the parish, so whether it’s North, South, East, or West Baton Rouge — we can get there faster. This station is built for speed, efficiency, and safety.”
The new facility features multiple ambulances, command vehicles, a fully stocked supply room, and dormitory space to accommodate emergency crews and visiting responders during major disasters. Harris noted that during hurricanes or large-scale emergencies, the station can host units from around the country.
Beyond its cutting-edge design, the station carries deep emotional significance. It is named after the late Drew McInnis, a respected public servant remembered for his tireless dedication to emergency medical services and the people of Baton Rouge.
“Drew’s legacy lives on through this building and every life we save,” Harris added. “He believed in service, and that spirit is built into every wall of this station.”
The Drew McInnis EMS Station stands as more than just a new facility — it’s a symbol of progress, preparedness, and pride for East Baton Rouge Parish. When the ribbon was cut, the crowd didn’t just see a building — they saw a new heartbeat for public safety in the Capital City.
