BATON ROUGE, La. — Keyo Johnson, director of Vocational Discernment and Career Development at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FRANU), has been appointed Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the Louisiana Academic Advising Association (LACADA) and joins the Board of Directors for Leadership Baton Rouge, Class of 2025.

In these roles, Johnson will represent FRANU while advancing academic advising, workforce development, and community engagement across the region. She has spent more than a decade in education, counseling, and student development, combining her expertise to support students in achieving meaningful career and life goals.

A Baton Rouge native and alumna of Southern University, Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling in 2015. She began her career in K–12 education before transitioning to counseling and later moving into higher education to guide students in vocational discernment and career readiness.

At FRANU, Johnson has launched several initiatives, including the Vocational Discernment Program, which trains faculty, staff, and alumni as vocational coaches. She also leads the “Wolves of Work” internship program, the Empowering Futures Project, and other career development efforts that connect students with paid internships and professional growth opportunities.

Beyond her work in higher education, Johnson is the founder of Mère Confidence Consulting, where she provides confidence coaching, keynote presentations, and personal development programs. She is a certified coach and trainer with the John C. Maxwell Leadership Team and a proud National TRIO alumna, recognized as a TRIO Achiever for her contributions to student development.

“Keyo’s leadership and dedication exemplify FRANU’s mission and her commitment to supporting students and the Baton Rouge community,” a university spokesperson said.

Johnson also serves as an adjunct professor at FRANU, mentoring first-year students on academic success, professional development, and career readiness. Her combined experience in education, counseling, and community leadership positions her as a key figure in advancing workforce and student success initiatives throughout Louisiana.
