BATON ROUGE, La. — Courtney Hunt, a veteran nonprofit leader and community health advocate, was sworn in Tuesday as a board member of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, taking on a leadership role focused on strengthening regional collaboration and inclusive economic growth.

Hunt will serve as chair of Strategic Partnerships, where she will work to build equitable relationships among businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders across the capital region. The role centers on aligning resources and partnerships to expand access, opportunity, and long-term economic impact.

The oath of office was administered by Louisiana Senate President Pro Tempore Regina Ashford Barrow, a Baton Rouge Democrat who represents parts of East Baton Rouge Parish.

Hunt is the program manager of community engagement and health outcomes at Ochsner Health, where she leads initiatives to improve healthcare engagement and strengthen partnerships in North Baton Rouge. Her work focuses on connecting health systems with community organizations to address disparities and improve outcomes.

With more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, grant writing, and strategic planning, Hunt has served as a consultant, executive director, and faculty member. She has taught undergraduate courses in political science and business management at Upper Iowa University and has led strategic planning, board development, and program implementation efforts for organizations across Louisiana.

Previously, Hunt served as director of social and community responsibility at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, overseeing housing and social service programs and securing full funding for multiple federal and state grants. Her career also includes leadership roles in economic development, workforce training, and youth development initiatives in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Hunt holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from Southern University and A&M College. She also serves as a commissioner on the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights.

The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce represents businesses across the nine-parish capital region and works to advance economic development, workforce growth, and regional collaboration. Chamber leaders said Hunt’s appointment reflects an ongoing focus on inclusive leadership and cross-sector partnerships as drivers of sustainable regional growth.
