Video, photo identifications help build Baton Rouge rape case
A Westlake man faces six charges in alleged assaults on two 18-year-old women; a second man remains unidentified in available reports.
BATON ROUGE, La. — Surveillance footage and identifications by two 18-year-old women helped investigators connect a suspect to alleged sexual assaults at a Baton Rouge apartment Sept. 26, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office account.
Ethan Scott Hallman, 20, of Westlake, faces four counts of third-degree rape and two counts of sexual battery. A Calcasieu Parish booking report lists his arrest Oct. 25 on an in-state detainer; additional reporting places his transfer to East Baton Rouge Parish on Oct. 31.
Deputies said Hallman and another man approached the women in a pickup truck near Burbank Drive and Jennifer Jean Drive and offered them a ride. Hallman allegedly drove them to a bar, then returned them to their apartment, where both men allegedly raped them.
The women later underwent hospital sexual assault examinations that documented genital injuries, according to the investigative account. They helped investigators establish Hallman’s identity and subsequently identified him in a photographic lineup, deputies said.
Investigators also cited surveillance showing Hallman’s truck entering the apartment property before the alleged assaults. Doorbell footage reportedly captured the unidentified second man running away naked. wbrz.com
Available reports did not establish Hallman’s bond, a plea or whether the second man had been identified or arrested. The allegations against Hallman have not been proved in court.
