Robbery turns deadly at Baton Rouge meat market; killer remains unidentified

BATON ROUGE, La. — A robbery at a neighborhood meat market ended with a 25-year-old employee shot to death early Wednesday, leaving investigators searching for the killer.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Abdallahi Baba. Authorities described the Oct. 7 killing as a robbery that turned into a fatal shooting at City Town Meat Market #3, near Beechwood Drive and Sycamore Street. The business was formerly known as Ragusa’s Meat Market.
Baton Rouge police said officers responded to Beechwood Drive around 5 a.m. and found Baba, a clerk at the business, dead from gunshot wounds. The coroner’s office was notified around 5:30 a.m.
As of Thursday, police said they had no suspect. The publicly available accounts did not establish whether money was taken or provide a confirmed description of the shooter.
