BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana State Representative C. Denise Marcelle, organizer of the annual Celebrate Juneteenth Freedom Day event, has announced the final official schedule and a major community giveaway for this weekend’s festivities.

To ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees in light of anticipated inclement weather, the celebration will officially take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at BREC Gus Young Park (4200 Gus Young Ave., Baton Rouge).

"In an exciting addition to this year's festivities, the celebration will feature a massive Juneteenth Giveaway, pumping over $1,000 in FREE gas gift cards directly back into the community!"

Rep. Marcelle and event officials adjusted the event hours to anticipate changing weather conditions while ensuring the community can safely enjoy the full, vibrant lineup of activities. In addition to the giveaway, the celebration features food, culture, family activities, and a headlining musical performance by Kenny Neal & The Neal Family.

“We want everyone to be able to enjoy this day safely and leave with something that helps their families,” Rep. Marcelle said. “This time adjustment allows us to beat the weather while still coming together for unity, celebration, and critical community resources.”

The event is free, open to the public, and made possible through the generous support of presenting sponsor Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, alongside major corporate and community partners: Entergy, YWCA, the Office of Mayor-President Sid Edwards, Power Coalition for Equity & Justice, Visit Baton Rouge, CareSouth Medical & Dental, EBR Council on Aging, United Cajun Navy, and Mid-City Baptist Community Fellowship.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early at 10:00 a.m. with their family and friends. For real-time updates, monitor local announcements through participating community organizations and local media partners.
