Southern Opens Fall Work After Best Win Total Since 2019
Coming off a 29-win season, Southern begins its first full week of fall baseball with free public access and a Saturday matchup against Loyola.
BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern’s baseball team enters fall work following its winningest season since 2019, with fans invited to watch the Jaguars begin their first full week of practices and scrimmages at Lee-Hines Stadium.
Southern finished the 2026 season 29-23 overall and 20-7 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The 29 victories were the most under head coach Chris Crenshaw. The program also sent standout infielder KJ White into professional baseball after the SWAC Hitter of the Year signed with the Athletics organization in July.
The fall schedule offers an early look at Southern’s next chapter, including a home matchup against Loyola at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, and an intrasquad scrimmage at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.
After an off day Monday, the Jaguars are scheduled to train at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Tuesday and Wednesday sessions also include scrimmages beginning at 4 p.m. All times are Central.
Admission to all on-field activities is free. Spectators should enter through the main gate behind home plate and remain in designated seating areas.
Southern will publish practice and scrimmage schedules each Monday on its athletics website. Scrimmage schedules remain subject to change, with their length determined individually. Regular training will continue between scrimmages throughout the fall.
Practice-time changes and weather cancellations will be announced on X through @SouthernUBSB.
