Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation Names 9 New Board Members, Honors First Board Emeritus Members
The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation is bringing new voices from government, business, and industry to its board as it continues its scholarship and educational mission across Louisiana.
BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation is expanding its leadership with nine new board members representing Louisiana government, business, energy, manufacturing, communications and professional services.
The foundation made the appointments during its regularly scheduled board meeting Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, as it continues its charitable and educational mission throughout Louisiana.
The new Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation Board of Directors includes:
- Edward Price — District 2
- Joy Walters — District 4
- Brandy Ambeau — Louisiana Chemical Association
- Rodney Braxton — SSG
- Ted James, Esq. — Ted James Strategies
- Makesha Judson — Vale USA LLC
- Bre’Anna Perkins — Entergy
- Cory Stewart — Coca-Cola Bottling Company
- Damien Watt — Louisiana Midcontinent Oil & Gas Association
The new board brings together elected officials and leaders from some of Louisiana's most prominent business and industry sectors. Their collective experience includes public policy, government relations, corporate affairs, community engagement, economic development and education.
The appointments also strengthen the foundation's ability to connect its educational mission with Louisiana's business and professional communities.
The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation has made education and scholarship assistance central to its work. The foundation provides scholarships to high school and college students in legislative districts represented by members of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, including students who are first-generation college students and young people transitioning from foster care.
The new leadership comes as the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus continues advocating for policies affecting education, economic opportunity, workforce development and the quality of life of communities across the state.
Foundation Honors First Board Emeritus Members
Along with welcoming its newest directors, the foundation recognized a historic first by naming Edwin Murray and Dr. James Caillier as its inaugural Board Emeritus Members.
The distinction recognizes their years of leadership, service and contributions to the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation and the state of Louisiana.
Murray is a former Louisiana state senator and longtime figure in Louisiana public service. His career included legislative work and leadership within the state's Black political community.
Dr. James Caillier has also been recognized for his longstanding involvement and service to the foundation and the broader Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus community.
The foundation also expressed appreciation to board members whose terms are ending. Their service, officials said, helped establish the foundation on which the organization will continue to build.
With the addition of nine new directors and the creation of its first Board Emeritus designation, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation is entering a new chapter — one that brings government, business and community leadership together around its continuing commitment to education, opportunity and service.
