Bobby Brown to Headline Southern University Athletics Gala as Jaguars Expand Fundraising Strategy

BATON ROUGE, La. — Grammy Award-winning R&B icon Bobby Brown will headline Southern University's 4th Annual Athletics Gala later this month, bringing one of music's most recognizable performers to Baton Rouge for an evening focused on strengthening support for Jaguar athletics.

The black-tie event is scheduled for Aug. 22 at the Raising Cane's River Center and is expected to attract alumni, business leaders, community partners, donors and HBCU supporters from across the region.

While Brown's appearance is expected to draw significant attention, university officials view the gala as more than a celebrity performance. The event represents a broader strategy to generate financial support for Southern University's athletic programs as colleges nationwide navigate rising operating costs and an increasingly competitive collegiate sports environment.
