(NWS) New Orleans/Baton Rouge has forecasted a Moderate Risk of Excessive Rainfall for East Baton Rouge Parish from impacts of Tropical Storm Nicholas.
NWS New Orleans/Baton Rouge has issued a Flash Flood Watch and is anticipating 6-8” of rainfall for our area today through Friday morning. There is a threat of an isolated tornado over portions of Baton Rouge Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Please remain vigilant throughout the week as East Baton Rouge Parish may experience excessive rainfall. Remember to always use caution while driving; localized flash flooding may cause ponding on the roadways. Do not drive through flooded roadways or around barricades,” said Mayor Broome. “As a precaution, use the Buddy System™ to check on your family, friends, and neighbors who might still be recovering from Hurricane Ida. Stay Red Stick Ready by monitoring your local weather stations for the latest forecasts and adhere to emergency instructions from local officials.”
The City-Parish, in coordination with BREC Parks and Recreation, has pre-positioned sand and sandbags at multiple locations across the parish.

• BREC Lovett Road Park – 13443 Lovett Road
• BREC Memorial Stadium – 1702 Foss Street

The Broome Administration and the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP) will continue coordinating with NWS and local, state, and federal officials throughout the duration of the event.
