Mayor Broome Announces PPE Distribution Site

Baton Rouge, LA – March 26, 2020 – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is collaborating with East Baton Rouge Parish hospitals and healthcare partners to provide additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for medical personnel. This localized effort is establishing a distribution site for PPE in order to protect East Baton Rouge Parish residents and medical personnel in the wake of the national shortage of PPE.

The donation site serves as a business-to-business interchange, to intake, organize and export much-needed supplies to our area hospitals. The location is not a donation site for the general public. Those businesses who wish to donate can visit www.brhealthdistrict.com, to find specifics on the types of donations needed.

“This is what our community does: when we recognize a need, we pull together the necessary resources and people, and we make it happen,” said Mayor Broome. “We are calling upon businesses, industries, and medical and dental offices that are closed or not performing certain procedures, to donate their protective equipment that can then be utilized in hospitals.”

The collaboration includes: Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Baton Rouge Health District, Baton Rouge Clinic, Baton Rouge General, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Ochsner, Our Lady of the Lake, Woman's Hospital, Lane Regional Medical, Coca-Cola, ExxonMobil, and Wanhua Chemical Baton Rouge.

The distribution site is at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport.
