On June 26 - June 28, 2020, LaPlace, Louisiana will host the Louisiana Black Legacy Film & Arts Festival (LBLFAF) at the St. John Center Soundstage. The mission of LBLFAF is to provide a platform that educates, shares and celebrates the experiences and resilience of the African Diaspora in Louisiana and abroad, through film, music and creative arts.
Founder, Troy Roberson Lee of VIP Events & Entertainment has partnered with the nonprofit organization Community Partners, which was organized to initiate and implement effective strategies to promote philanthropy in communities of color. They will facilitate a conversation on “Philanthropy and the Creative Arts.” Additionally, we have the nonprofit organization, The Red Stick Project whose mission is to restore pride, purpose and passion in Baton Rouge communities through the arts. They will host the Legacy Arts Room, which will give Festival participants an opportunity to share what “legacy” means to them by writing a note on the Legacy Arts Mural.
The festival will host Master Classes, Panels, Innovative Art, and Entertainment. Celebrity guests will include Niles Fitch (Actor, This is Us), Monty Ross (Director/Producer, Malcolm X and Do the Right Thing), Stacey Muhammad (Director/Filmmaker, For Colored Boys, The Creed, and Queen Sugar), Marshall Tyler (Director/Producer/Filmmaker, Nightshift, CAP, and Miami Vice), David Banner (Actor/Musician, Stomp the Yard, The Butler, and Empire).
