My name is Freida Morris. I am running for Zachary City Council District 1. I am a Leader, Advisor, and Community Advocate, passionate about the issues impacting young people and the Zachary Community. After much prayer and seeking counsel from my Pastor, I decided to run to be the change agent my District and City deserve. I am the “Leader You Can Trust, Working For You.”
My late husband and I pastored a local Church in Zachary for over 35 years, positively impacting the lives of the people of Zachary. I am a graduate of Southern University.
(Bachelor of Science in Computer Science) and a graduate of Louisiana State University (Master of Business Administration in Finance and Management). I have over forty (40) years of experience as a Leader in Business and Finance, working for major corporations, including IBM Corporation, Ethyl/Albemarle Corporation, and Kaiser Aluminum Corporation. I am currently the Chief Financial Officer of a Health Care Organization.
I am actively involved in the community and programs that improve the lives of young people. I am a Church Leader and member of Restore Life Church in Zachary. I have volunteered with the Baranco Clark YMCA Black Achievers Program, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, and Habitat for Humanity. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
I am widowed and have been married for over 39 years. I am a mother of three adult children who attended public school in Zachary. I am the proud grandmother of five (5) (and soon to be six). All my grandchildren attend Zachary Schools and Daycare. I am vested in this community.
I will work to ensure that the City of Zachary will always be a place that we can proudly call "home." We must ensure "smart growth"; infrastructure poised/positioned for succinct growth and development.

I look forward to working with the Mayor and Zachary City Council for the betterment of my constituents and every citizen of Zachary.
