CareSouth Names Michelle McCalope as Marketing and Communications Director

BATON ROUGE, La -- CareSouth Medical and Dental recently named Michelle McCalope as its Marketing and Communications Director.

In this role, McCalope will oversee media, marketing, community outreach, sponsorships and partnerships and fundraising efforts for the company which has locations in Baton Rouge, Plaquemine, Donaldsonville, and Zachary.

McCalope has more than 25 years of experience in the media industry. She previously operated her own media and communications consulting company, On Assignment Media. Her clients included BREC, Capital Area United Way, Southern University College of Business, and the Louisiana Center for Health Equity. Prior to that, she served as the communications director and community outreach coordinator for Mayor Sharon Weston Broome and traffic anchor and web producer for WAFB Channel 9.

McCalope is also the author of two books, “Good Job: A guide to pursuing your passions and following your dreams” and “That Good Job: Strategies for pursuing your passions and following your dreams.” Her work has been featured in Time, People, and O (Oprah) magazines.

A Baton Rouge native, McCalope is a graduate of Baton Rouge Magnet High School and Southern University. She has been recognized by Southern University’s Mass Communication Department as “Alumni of the Year” and inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society, by the Southern University College of Business. She was also honored by the Baton Rouge Area Association of Black Journalists as its founder and former president.

She serves on the board of the Southern University National Alumni Federation, Susan G. Komen Louisiana and the Baton Rouge Press Club. She is also a member of the Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. 

CareSouth Medical and Dental is a private, non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that provides a comprehensive range of community-based medical, dental and behavioral health services including primary care, pediatrics, HIV health testing and care, OB/GYN, immunizations, podiatry, chronic disease management and individual, group, and family therapy. Services are provided for the insured and the uninsured. Patients without insurance will receive services on a sliding fee scale if they qualify. No one is turned away. Our clinics are located in Baton Rouge, Plaquemine, Zachary, and Donaldsonville.
