BATON ROUGE - Registration for BREC's highly anticipated summer camps commenced this past Saturday, offering an array of engaging opportunities for eager campers.

Participants can anticipate a dynamic summer experience filled with recreational games, community field trips, sports, and more.

Scheduled throughout the summer months, the camps span from July to the final week of August, providing ample opportunities for children to explore and engage.

"We are excited to offer up to nine weeks of camp opportunities throughout the parish," stated Sarah Soltau, BREC Assistant Superintendent of Recreation.

Costs vary depending on the camp selected. In-parish campers can expect fees around $125, while out-of-parish campers may incur fees up to $155.

Among the highlights is the immensely popular summer zoo camp, offering children the unique chance to feed alligators and gain an insider's view of the zoo operations.

For added convenience, transportation services are available for select camps. Trained counselors accompany campers on the bus, ensuring a seamless journey to the designated facility.

Furthermore, BREC extends scholarship opportunities for eligible participants. Registration commenced online on Saturday, March 2, at 9 a.m. exclusively for East Baton Rouge Parish residents. Out-of-state residents can access online registration or opt for in-person registration during regular business hours, starting Tuesday, March 12.
