BATON ROUGE, LA – Baton Rouge Community College’s Workforce Solutions Division has partnered with Ancora Education to offer a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program starting Monday, Sept. 20, at the BRCC Port Allen Campus, 3233 Rosedale Rd., Port Allen. The application period is currently open for future class sessions. Application and course information is available online allowing students to enroll through Ancora at mybrcc.edu/CDLTraining.
The CDL training course is a Class A Truck Driver program that provides students with a balance between classroom learning and on-the-road training. During the four to six weeks of training, students will prepare for the CDL exam and a career in the transportation industry. The training course is offered on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students enrolling will need to have a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) before being accepted.
“We are excited about our new CDL program and partnering with Ancora Education, which is a reputable training institution with its imprint across nine states,” said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith. “The transportation industry is continuing to grow, and there’s an urgent need to fill positions with well-trained individuals throughout the state and nation.”
The Class A Truck Driving curriculum provides students with training to operate tractor-trailers and assume driver safety and on the road responsibilities. Learning emphasis is structured around vehicle inspections, defensive driving, range maneuvering, trip planning, cargo handlings, and regulations.
