Baton Rouge, LA - It all started December 24, 1949 when Robert and Sophia Sadler were united in holy matrimony. This Christmas Eve they will celebrate 70 years of marriage. Mr. Sadler retired from Anderson and Dunham Pipe Company as a concrete pipe maker. Mrs. Sadler retired from Southern University as a cook and then furthered her career as a bailiff with Judge Bonnie Jackson in the 19th Judicial District Court.
The couple has 7 children, 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grands and 4 great-great grands. When asked what their secret to a long and loving marriage was, they both said "having God and unconditional love."
