Alternative Routes for Sunday, July 4, 2021

Baton Rouge, La. — The City-Parish is preparing for an increased volume of traffic in Downtown Baton Rouge due to simultaneous events on Sunday, July 4. Events will take place at the Raising Canes River Center and along the Mississippi River levee; River Road will be closed to thru traffic from Florida Street to St. Philip Street from 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

The City-Parish government is asking residents and visitors to plan ahead for increased traffic and alternate parking on Sunday. The River Center Garages located on St. Louis Street are expected to fill by 5:00 P.M. Alternative parking spaces are available throughout the area, and we encourage travelers to utilize these options to minimize traffic within the area.

North bound travelers are encouraged to use the North Street (1D) and Convention Street exits (1B). South bound travelers are encouraged to use the Laurel Street (1H) and North 9th/ Capitol Park (1G) exits.

Law enforcement officers will be positioned at major intersections to aid in the flow of traffic.
