2020 Baton Rouge Kidney Walk Goes Virtual

On Saturday, April 4, 2020, instead of stepping up for the 14th Annual Baton Rouge Kidney Walk at Highland Road Community Park and Grand Pavilion, Louisianan will “virtually” walk to raise awareness of kidney disease, organ donation and the importance of early screening and a healthy lifestyle for those at risk of developing kidney disease.

In an effort to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the patients we serve, our medical community, staff, volunteers, and dedicated supporters, the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana has made the difficult decision to change the Kidney Walk scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Highland Road Community Park and Grand Pavilion to a virtual event. As dialysis patients and transplant recipients are at a higher risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone to virtually walk.

Despite the transition of the event, the NKFL needs your support now more than ever. The Foundation serves some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community – chronic kidney disease, dialysis and transplant patients. All funds raised from this virtual event will be used to ensure that the NKFL can continue to provide vital patient and community services including: crisis intervention funds, free “Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy” screenings, and extensive public and professional education.

Participants for the Kidney Walk can join in at www.kidneywalk.org. Registration is free, but participants are encouraged to donate $5 and fundraise for the Foundation. Best of all, individuals can still create a team with their family and friends and virtually walk.
